Black Majik Productions started in the dorms of Florida State University where P. Rowe, TY and MJ all stayed on the same floor. In between classes they found that they were all into music. P. Rowe was the singer and MJ and TY were rappers. They began writing songs and were going to an outside producer to mix and record their demo.  After paying for a few sessions without getting the results they wanted, they thought about starting their own production company and began doing their music their way on their time.  Thus started Black Majik Productions.

They would record songs and get local radio play and got a big break when they were selected as finalists in the Alizé /Vibe Phat track Contest.  They were flown to NY to compete with two other artists that were selected out of over 500 entries worldwide. Although they came in second place and didn’t win the contest, just being selected let them know that they were on the right track.

As time passed the three collaborated on many songs and eventually P. Rowe became known as one of the premier artists in the Phat Cat Players showcase in Tallahassee. He would eventually get noticed at FAMU’s homecoming and became lead singer of the group Prophet Jones.

Fast forward and now MJ and P. Rowe have joined again in this venture to bring this company’s talent to the world. With the additions of Songwriter Kenny Shaw and hip hop producer Kontraband, BMP is more talented than ever and will now bring it’s style of music to the forefront.

Now we intend to open up the entire production process and blaze the trail for a new wave of independent labels that give quality music to listeners without compromising art, lyrics or integrity.  We hope to be at the forefront of entertainment with tentacles reaching into video, art and movies.
